Yeah sure Patrick is so innocent dumb people trust the biggest reason why TG tanked and Cat too

Geez.

So much talk about "what's wrong" with the Twin Galaxies / competitive retro gaming scene(s) over the years and especially over the past several months.

Opinions vary greatly. Points of view differ. This is the norm, really. I've often compared it politics, as no matter who thinks they are right there's others who will think the total opposite. It's something I learned the hard way while on the staff there... and I'm not alone there.

To take a break from a project today, I decided to take an extended look around that "scene" (which is really numerous little sub-groups and always has been). Here's what I saw.

- A gamer raving on CAGDc about a locked forum post, even comparing it to TG's former message forum, where he is backed up publicly by another mod in comparing the TG's forums to some sort of police state.

- A noted gamer calling out another noted gamer on Facebook in a post with well over 100 replies and counting.

- People jumping the TG Facebook page for actually saying something after months of complaining that they were saying nothing.

- A usual suspect once again ranting falsehoods about others while replying to posts that had no bearing to do with him, despite this person's claims that he "only responds" or whatever.

- People who, just months ago, claimed to be wanting to "save" Twin Galaxies posting that it's dead and encouraging alternative scoreboards.

- Three posts ranting about something that happened nine years ago that the majority of that scene/those scenes weren't around for, done by people who haven't been seen publicly since then.

- A whopping 17 people who have posted in just recent weeks remarks that not only tear at others who have actually tried to help what they say needs help, but people who have actually done things for them directly in the not-so-distant past.

- Someone feeling the need to respond to someone's post that they are going to Funspot with remarks tearing down someone who often goes to it for no obvious reason.

I'll just flat out say it. Want a stronger community, Twin Galaxies / competitive retro gamers? Eh? Do ya? You say you do.

Then grow up.

  • Leo Daniels Trolls and haters don't even matter. Let them sit in their grandma's basement or their moms couch and be KB warriors lol. Let one of them say anything to me in person, I'd punch them in their neck!
  • Patrick Scott Patterson Leo... this extends beyond "trolls and haters". The vast majority of the people mentioned above don't fit that kind of category. They are people who could contribute to at least improving the morale but are too busy bickering about stuff that even Bronies would find silly. It's upsetting... like watching your parents argue. You just want to see it stop, but it never seems to.
  • Leo Daniels Because they want to be pandered to. They all don't want their feelings hurt, yet try to hurt others. What happened to all the unity that we had back in the day??
  • Kelly R. Flewin I've given up on even participating in the majority of conversations let alone read them for this very reason.

Enough talk, not even remotely enough action.

But at this point in my life, I am finally enjoying playing games for the sake of it and for friendly rivalry and sharing info. Kinda like 80's gaming without the 90's and 00's hate and vitrole.
